Ice Dams

Clear the snow from your roof to prevent ice damming and costly interior leaking!

A good siding installation can make the oldest of homes look wonderful and new.  However a poor installation can make the nicest home look rundown and even worse leave your house suceptable to damage from the elements.  Please browse through this section and familiarize yourself with the small things that when put together make for an exceptional siding installation!

Remove the old

There are some cases where new siding can be installed over old, but a thorough evaluation should be done before making this decision.  One of the biggest problems we see is covering up and old deteriorated siding with new material.  This can quite often lead to failure of the new material.  This is particularly common in the case of stucco because most contractors don't want to deal with the extra work of stucco removal

Seal your home

New siding is the perfect opportunity to properly seal your home.  The house wrap is the starting point to ensuring your home is protected from the elements as well as sealed against drafts and air penetration.  Advance Exteriors invests in brand name TYVEK home wrap because it is proven to outperform other housewraps.  For cement and insulated sidings we use a home wrap with a rainscreen which is required for these types of sidings…Does your contractor know that?

Siding Training

Each different type and brand of siding has it’s own very specific installation instructions, training and tools.  Advance Exteriors has been training and is certified to install every type of siding available.  It is important to know required installation procedures as a small item such as the wrong fastener type, or wall prep can result in siding failure and a voided warranty.

Proper Fastening

With most siding installations, once the project is complete all the fasteners are concealed.  It is extremely important that the correct type, length and fastener spacing is used.  Since you will not be able to see these fasteners once the project is complete it is important to have faith that your contractor is properly trained and will not shortcut the required installation methods

Project inspection

We inspect each project after completion to ensure it has been properly installed to our strict guideline.  After all, every now and then mistakes can get made and things get missed, but we want to make sure the little things get corrected and you are completely satisfied with your new siding!
